Kamika Perry returns to the St. Joseph County main library's 2nd floor gallery for her second solo exhibition, "Golden".
The works in this collection continue Kamika's exploration of artistic confidence. The title reflects the notion that Perry has struck artistic "gold."
Perry believes, you aim for your work to sell. While sales, likes, or comments on social media can validate your efforts, the real measure of your value lies in the answer to a straightforward question: Are you happy with it?
Perry believed that this exhibition allowed her to establish a routine, along with confidence and pride in her work—the kind of structure she thinks every successful artist she admires possesses.
Since I decided to name the collection Golden, I aimed to use gold leaf as the central theme connecting all the pieces. I purchased over 300 sheets, so I'll likely be working with gold leaf for some time," Perry chuckles. "However, if someone had warned me about the challenges of working with gold leaf in the way I envisioned, I would have ordered far fewer." The Golden exhibition will be showcased from June 13, 2024, to July 11, 2024.
